I’ve had the same supper for 10 years

I'm sorry, but I can't resist posting this wonderful article from The Guardian, by a farmer from Wales, who is the epitome of 'localism' we have been talking about in class. A farmer looking after his sheep, always the same dinner, and the sense of his valley and its richness written into his heart: 'My heart belongs here with the birds and the trees'.

So, is he foolish? Did his friends who left for the big city, or the oilrigs, find greater happiness? 'I think the secret to a good life is to enjoy your work...', he says. Well, why not? And how about this positive thought: 'A lot of people, locals and birdwatchers, come here wanting to hear the cuckoo, but they don’t stop long enough; sometimes they don’t even leave their cars. This makes me feel so sad that I actually cry a bit; it pains me that others don’t get to enjoy it'.
