Is Brexit causing food and medicine supply problems in the UK? - BBC News
Here is a short video on the shortage of HGV (heavy goods vehicle) drivers in Britain at the moment, and the resulting disruption in supply chains, empting shelves in retail. The debate is...is it due to Brexit and the haemorrhaging of a cheaper European workforce, or the coronavirus, or a powerful cocktail of both. In any case, even if it is partly Brexit, this video, and the media generally, never really ask about the implications of what it was that the EU provided; a cheap workforce doing jobs that the British do not want to do. Shouldn't we be focussing first on improving salaries and working conditions at home? Isn't there a problem with taking cheap labour from other countries?
